Each question asked to you in job interviews falls into one of three buckets, according to a recent article in Forbes:
*Can you do the job?
*Will you love the job?
*Can we tolerate working with you?
They’re all asked using different words, but each question is merely a variation on one of these topics: Strengths, Motivation, and Fit (according to the Forbes article). This all makes sense to me, with perhaps an odd fourth bucket tossed in marked “Assorted.” In this pail I would throw in these questions that have actually been asked of me in my 23+ post-college years:
“If you were a tree in a forest, what kind of tree would you be and why?”
“What is the most embarrassing thing that has ever happened to you at work?”
“Assume that you’re cast in The Wizard of Oz—what character would you play and why?”
I never worked at any of the businesses that asked these questions.
Tin man. Rust never sleeps.
