Are We Really Shaking Off the Recession?

The answer to the title of this post, according to Bob Woosley, is a resounding “Yes!” Many CPAs agree, based on conversations I’ve had with them in 2012. Finally! Without a doubt, we’re all ready for better economic times, seeing the masses back on the employment rolls and before we know it, having another presidential election behind us (can’t come soon enough, in my opinion).

Woosley, a senior partner at Atlanta-based public accounting firm Frazier & Deeter LLC, is also the founder of iLumen–a leading innovator of financial decision analytics and business intelligence software solutions. Going back to the recent recessionary times, Woosley pointed out that many firms have honed their efficiencies during these leaner times—and can now enjoy those same efficiencies as they ramp back up. As one Indianapolis-based CPA told me the other day, echoing something similar, “We cut fat, then we cut a bit of bone…and we’re right where we need to be as we bring on new staff and expand services.” I suppose this is all a bit like dieting really hard, having some success losing weight, then feeling like you can eat a pizza without the guilt. Well, maybe not.

An Atlanta Braves fan, Bob Woosley is witnessing the growth of clients and a “briskness” in the overall business landscape. Indeed, business batting averages are rising. Commercial real estate in his firm’s footprint is especially beginning to ripen, as well as early-stage entrepreneurial companies and tech companies. It’s more evidence that America is shaking off the recession, like a dog shakes off water after a bath. Said Woosley, “It won’t take much to really get the dominoes to fall.”

For the upcoming live Q&A session with Woosley, it’s important to note that managing partners, partners and managers log on to iShade for answers on how to best navigate today’s competitive landscape with clients and prospects–and how to truly “connect” with them in order to drive growth.
