The Canadian government, in its Economic Action Plan 2012, announced that it will eliminate the penny from the country’s coinage system. Great move, in my opinion.
A “rounding guideline” will be adopted by the federal government for cash transactions with the Canadian public. Dumbed down, for sure, but probably necessary.
Do you think the United States should also give the penny the boot? If so, do we need to equip merchants with mind-numbing graphics like these (see below)?
